How To Choose The Knife Sharpener ?

There are many types of knife sharpeners, including fixed angle ones, as well as flat and rod-shaped ones. The materials used for grinding knives include diamond, high-performance ceramics, hard alloys, and oilstones. Different products result in significant price differences.

So how to choose a knife sharpeners for kitchen knives ?

Firstly, the material and hardness of the knife or tool:

If the cutting tools are made of good steel and high hardness, diamond grinders, ceramic grinders, and oilstones are better options. If it was made of alloy materials, diamond sharpeners are particularly recommended.

Secondly, is it a single edged tool or a double-edged tool:

If a grinder that can be used with both double and single edges is needed, it is generally in the form of regular flat plates or rods. Generally, it is a diamond sharpener, high-performance ceramic sharpener, or oilstone. But all of these require some sharpening skills. There are also tools that can be specialized for single or double-edged grinding, and these grinders generally do not require much skill, but they are generally not interchangeable between the two.

Thirdly, the sharpness of the cutting tool or tool:

If there is a general requirement for the knife sharpness, it is recommended to use hard alloy sharpeners and diamond sharpeners for quick sharpening, especially fixed angle sharpeners. If there is a high requirement for the sharpness, it is better to choose a high-performance ceramic sharpener or oilstone.

Fourth, considerations for each usage scenario:

If you are a regular home sharpener, it is recommended to use a regular hard alloy angle sharpener, which is fast, simple, and hygienic. If you are using high-end cutting tools, it is recommended to use diamond wheels or X-shaped fixed angle grinders. If you are an outdoor knife enthusiast, it is recommended to use a universal angle sharpener or high-end oilstone.
